all right, the man’s finally online himself.
have a thorough peek:

Raciel Gómez Golpe
wow, did i get a surprise googlin’ his name! don’t pay too much attention to the price range though - it is enormous -, but you get the picture where he’s at and going.
since i met him a couple of years ago – my last day before leaving Havana -, he took off like a rocket! i saw it and i knew it. damn! what was this guy doing there between all that tourist crap on Prado’s weekly market? with my last money i bought a couple of drawings of his right away, and i promised to keep in touch. i couldn’t believe the quality present there.

on next occassions i visited him at home, helped him out with a camera, bought more drawings and a painting, and promised to promote him on the net so people could see what he was doing – i just added a couple of links to his page, hence the googlin’.
i saw him progress and develop his paintings into series: bigger and better, having astonishing color and detail – the combination of charcoal and acrylic works splendid! he worked hard, had some good shows in Havana and finally got the attention he deserved. the only gallery that was selling his work until now was Cernuda Arte in Florida.

last time i saw him i wanted to buy one more but couldn’t afford to any longer. still i own all of the previous i bought. good – cuban - art can still be found, even for a reasonable price. just don’t go blind on names or reputations. look at the artwork itself, the quality, the feeling you get while examining. get to know the artist, his intention and view on things. these things matter.
i’m not a dealer, i never was. i’m just an artist who collected too much himself, which is a dangerous flaw. too much love kills the wallet. i had to decide how to continue, meaning in effect collecting came to an end.
have a look under his name, top right. unfortunately his latest work is still not posted, but you’ll get a good impression. he’s currently working on a website of his own and planning trips to Colombia and Mexico this year. you’ll be hearing a lot more about him, i’m pretty damn sure…
